TIPS for False Lashes

Eyelash Strips

“Strip lashes are hard to apply even for me, and I’ve been doing it for 12 years!” exclaims Almodovar. If they’re all you have to work with, his genius tips below will make the process as easy as possible.

  • The best thing to do is to cut the strip into halves or thirds so they are more manageable.
  • Wrap the lash around a brush at the beginning of your makeup application so the edges can get nice and curled and make sure the glue has settled a bit and is sticky (not slippery) before applying to your lash line.
  • Align the cut segments to the inner and outer corners of your eye where you want your lashes to start and end. Almodovar likes to overlap them in the middle to give the center of the eye a little lift and the illusion of a wider open eye.

“Now individual lashes…they’re the best!” says Almodovar. “The trick here is to make sure that each lash is dry on the lash line before applying the one that will lay right next to it.” For foolproof lashes that look great and won’t break the bank, we love e.l.f. Essential Individual False Lashes.

  • To give lashes time to dry (and prevent them from sliding around), Almodovar suggests alternating between eyes or corners when applying individual lashes.
  • Another great timesaving trick is to get lashes in three different lengths and apply the shortest ones closest to the nose, the medium ones in the center and the longest ones to the outside for most lift. Still make sure you’re alternating lashes, but this way you won’t even need to think about which lash goes where!
